The creators of one of the world’s best-known NFT collections (BAYC) announced the recent acquisition of the NFT set called 10KTF, owned by artist Beeple.
Yuga Labs, the company that developed the NFT collection called Bored Ape Yacht Club, has acquired NFT startup WENEW, which in turn is the creator of the 10KTF game, among other collaborations.
In turn, 10KTF is an NFT game created by digital artist Michael Winkelmann, who is better known by the pseudonym Beeple, who sold a collection of non-fungible tokens for $69 million.
WENEW co-founder Mike “Beeple” joins Yuga Labs as an advisor, which is one of the clauses of the agreement recently signed by the parties. The company operates as an interoperable online store, where NFT owners can create new digital collectibles, or collect their own items.
Yuga Labs continues in expansion plans, as we have seen in previous months with its announcements of intending to acquire projects such as CryptoPunks and Meebits NFT from Larva Labs, for example.
WENEW is a project that has prioritized the search for major brand collaborations since it was launched in 2021. These include well-known names such as Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and even the Wimbledon tennis tournament.
The company Yuga Labs bought the Wenew project and will add its co-founder and CEO Michael Figge as the company’s new Chief Content Officer.
The NFT 10KTF game is browser-based and allows players to equip heroes with constructed items to carry out various missions. These missions reward players with medals, APE coins and even free airdrops.
This game is developed on Ethereum and its plot is based on a tailor or craftsman named Wagmi San who creates digital clothing for different profile picture projects (PFP), within which are the Bored Ape or Moonbirds.
On the other hand, there are plans for the game to contain items that can be incorporated into avatars in the future, clothing and backpacks are already some well-known items in the collection.
Many users are wondering what metaverse they will be able to find themselves in, and with this recent acquisition, many are analyzing the possibility that the game’s items can be found in the Yuga Labs metaverse, which so far is only in preliminary negotiations.
The company Yuga announced the news via the social network Twitter by stating that they welcome the team @wenewlabs y @10ktfshop to the Yugaverse. Together they will push the boundaries of the metaverse with reality by developing creative storytelling alongside immersive experiences.
On the other hand, Yuga Labs co-founder Greg Solano, said that between Figge, Beeple and Wenew they have found a way to create a captivating story for Web3, and together they take advantage of users’ passion for their avatars and the customization of these.
