The Japanese video game company has made another approach to the web3 world, with the launch of a new IP, featuring characters that will in turn be collectible NFT.
In recent months there were quite a few rumors about the name Symbiogenesis, and many related it to a new edition of their game Parasite Eve. One of the events was that in the last days of October, the company filed an application for registration of the trademark “Symbiogenesis”, linking it to that game. But recently it has been confirmed that it is not linked to Parasite Eve.
In June, the company announced its plans to launch future NFT games and the creation of a new franchise for this type of virtual development.
In recent days, the company officially announced the launch of the new IP called Symbiogenesis. It is an art project with collectible NFT characters. Its release date will be in 2023.
The announcement was made through the social network Twitter, where this project already has its official account. In addition, if we analyze this official account we can see how they have advanced a few details such as the logo and other issues, but we can not know much more about what the project may be about.
The company defines this project as a universe in which you will be able to play as a character template, which will also be NFT to collect. In this way, they will not only be the protagonists of the video game, but also, when they are obtained, they will be able to be saved in a token wallet and used as avatars in different social networks.
In this way, the world of Symbiogenesis will experience a digital space where everything will be collected as digital art, and will integrate a story supported by a whole community that will be part of living this interactive experience with a digital reality.
This collectible artwork, which players will possess, can be used as characters in a story to be discovered while completing challenges, which are intended to question the distribution of resources and monopoly.
In one of the company’s press releases, they state that each strategic move players make will reveal new parts of the story.
In summary, this NFT project of Square Enix for the moment has a generic description regarding an open world, where digital objects will be tokenized.
Another relevant information about the new project, is that from 2023 it could start to be used through browser extensions, in which it will be possible to build this story that is based on the assets held by the blockchain.
Anyway, Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda argued that it is still early to develop a Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy game in blockchain version.
It is important to mention that a few months ago the company Square Enix released a figure of the protagonist of the Final Fantasy VII game, Cloud Strife, with a realistic artistic style, but also its NFT version, called Digital Plus Edition.
That NFT version also included an exchangeable ticket, which could be exchanged for a digital certificate of authenticity to validate the purchase of the figure, in addition to another ticket that provided the digital version of the figure.
Both the standard figure and the NFT version are available for pre-sale through the Square Enix Store. Its official on-sale date will be November 23rd.
