Samsung and its support for the metaverse

The South Korea-based multinational conglomerate has demonstrated in recent months its decision to bet on the metaverse through a series of international events.

One of the latest developments has been unveiled by members of Samsung Electronics Chile. From a article published on their official website, they make mention of the importance of technology in society, and the future oriented metaverse.

Anita Caerols, currently director of marketing and corporate citizenship at the Chile headquarters, says that the main purpose of technology is to provide people with solutions to make their lives easier. When implementing a new technology, the aim is to solve one or more real problems.

Thus, exploring virtual spaces such as Roblox, Fortnite, or Decentraland, is one more way to connect (as social networks already are) to those users considered members of GenZ: those considered digital natives, who will be the next generation to consume such technology.

In this way, they state that the metaverse comes to achieve the exchange of ideas with people who were born at a time when smartphones already existed. Following this line, a study by LinkedIn has been released regarding the audience of different Metaverse platforms, 51% of which is 13 years old or older.

With these types of signals, it can be concluded that the world will be created by the next generation, and the real will not be distinguished from the virtual. Caerols argues that if a company seeks to connect with a young audience and project future consumers, it inevitably needs to be present in the Metaverse.

That is why Samsung is convinced that the Metaverse is a great bet to connect with its young audience, so they are investing more than $35 million dollars to achieve it in Latin America.

In October, Samsung’s official website (Colombia) published an article about the shows that the company promoted in the Decentraland metaverse. article about the shows that the company promoted in the Decentraland metaverse.

Samsung has a space inside Decentraland called House of SAMwhere on October 29th it hosted a presentation by the artist Saak. The show took place inside the Samsung metaverse.

House of Sam is Samsung’s experience hub. One of its purposes turns out to be the meeting point for the brand’s community, with cultural activities, shows and more. Days later, on November 5, the singer Oriana Sabatini also had her presentation in the virtual space of the technology company, precisely on the terrace of the headquarters. Both events were held completely free of charge.

Another participation of the brand was in August, when Samsung Electronics inaugurated its island in Fortnite, under the name “Smart City“. This event was the company’s first approach to the virtual space.

The unveiling was part of the company’s marketing plan for the launch of its new foldable devices, the Galaxy Z Fold4 and Galaxy Z Flip4.
