Red Cross launches NFTs to help victims of hurricane “Ian”.

The American Red Cross in collaboration with Sweet will launch a collection of NFTs to help the victims of hurricane “Ian”, which wreaked havoc mainly in the state of Florida, located in the southeastern United States.

A partnership between Sweet and the American Red Cross will harness the power of non-fungible tokens to help victims of Hurricane Ian, which caused several disasters, especially in the state of Florida and the Caribbean.

While NFTs at Sweet are usually associated with cheering and exciting fans of sports teams or celebrating for people with a brand’s marketing campaigns, this time they have set out to take the power of NFTs to another level and launch a 100% charitable collection to raise funds and help people in times of crisis.

It has been a little more than two weeks after the devastating hurricane that passed through Florida, and American Red Cross volunteers are still working hard to provide food, shelter and basic necessities for those affected in the United States.

Sweet’s partnership with the Red Cross consists of 10,000 digital collectibles designed by the artist, muralist and illustrator, who currently resides in Miami. Marlon Pruzwho currently resides in Miami. The NFTs are valued at $14.99 USD and the proceeds will support the American Red Cross in its entirety.

Selma BouhlVice President of Brand Marketing and Creative Services for the American Red Cross, expressed her thoughts on the charity launch and said that the digital collectibles designed by Marlon will be essential to raise funds and help people in real need in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian. He added that the Red Cross always relies on the generous donations and support of the community to provide basic necessities such as shelter and food.

Betsy ProctorSweet’s Executive Vice President of Global Partnerships also gave her point of view and said that seeing the destruction caused by hurricane “Ian” a few weeks ago broke her heart. Afterwards, she commented that a great part of the web3 community has to do with the community that is created around it and thanked Marlon Pruz for donating his art for this important initiative.

Data provided in Sweet’s press release, indicated that of the 10,000 NFTs in the collection there are 9,956 non-fungible tokens available. The digital assets were minted on the Ethereum blockchain as ERC-721 tokens. Also, it was learned that from the sales made on the secondary markets, there will be 10% that will also be earmarked for the Red Cross.

Thanks to blockchain technology, any sales of these digital collectibles in both Sweet’s market, as well as other secondary markets, will have lifetime profits for the American Red Cross. This is thanks to the power of NFTs.
