The U.S. city will launch later this year a collection of 5,000 NFTs with the collaboration of different artists, TIME magazine, Mastercard, and Salesforce.
Miami, the city located in the southeastern state of Florida, along with its mayor, Francis Suarez, are planning to launch a collection of 5,000 NFTs together with TIME magazine, financial services company Mastercard, and on-demand software company Salesforce known for working with companies such as Adidas and also listed on Wall Street.
The 5,000 NFTs will be designed and created by some 56 different artists, in relation to the nearly 56 miles2 of one of the most Latin American-populated cities in the United States.
The work of each of the companies involved will help bring to life the idea of one of the most widely adopted crypto and blockchain cities in the U.S. and the world.
TIME magazine, will be in charge of carrying out the strategy and execution of the project. It is also the company that will seek to provide real-world benefits to holders of the non-fungible tokens. The benefits will be exclusive access to special events and restaurants, as well as private cultural and social visits to the city of Miami.
On the other hand, Salesforce will be in charge of selling the NFTs and also of storing the smart contracts in its new service called Salesforce Cloud, a product that has not yet been launched by the company and will be released with the release of the NFT Miami collection.
For its part, Mastercard will be the financial bridge between those interested in acquiring the non-fungible tokens and the platform that the State of Florida will create to market them. It is known that Mastercard is one of the largest multinationals in the world in terms of financial services, facilitating the electronic transfer of funds between individuals and entities.
Miami: The project to become the Crypto State
The city governed by Francis Suarez, is one of the first to adopt the crypto economy in the world.
In 2021 he has taken it upon himself to launch his own cryptocurrency called “MiamiCoin” and although the project is not one hundred percent associated with the mayor’s office, the mayor showed from the very beginning his willingness to defend the crypto industry and its entire ecosystem.
We will see if the city of Florida can become the Silicon Valley of the new blockchain industry, which promises to change the financial paradigm known until today.
In addition, at the end of 2021 Francis Suarez made a tweet anticipating that he will collect his entire salary in bitcoin (BTC), another sign that he wants to make his state one of the pioneers in adopting the use of cryptocurrencies.
In the comments to that announcement, the now Mayor of New York, Erci Adams, had also joined in, but at the time he was in the midst of campaigning for mayor. He added that he too would receive his first bitcoin salaries, and ended the comments between the two by promising a friendly competition to make the two states “crypto cities”.
Finally, the “Bitcoin 2021 and Bitcoin 2022 Conference” were also held in the city. At the latter conference, the Bull with laser eyes accompanied by Francis’ quote “New York is the ancient financial center… I give you the Miami bull!”. No doubt we will see the two states fight (on good terms) to see who gets to keep the “Crypto State” designation With this action, Francis got the upper hand!
