Messi is the new ambassador of NFT Sorare platform

Lionel Messi joins Sorare’s NFT marketing platform as a new investor and ambassador, with the aim of bringing new experiences to soccer fans.

The Argentine footballer currently playing for Paris Saint-Germain is becoming more and more involved in the crypto and NFT field, this time as an ambassador and investor of the Sorare platform.

Sorare consists of a card game or digital NFT cards, related to sports and particularly to soccer. It currently has several agreements with clubs, leagues and national soccer teams.

Sorare introduced the new ambassador with the following phrase: From Rosario to Barcelona, from Paris to Sorare, making reference that he becomes a new addition to the NFT platform.

Lionel Messi will be part of Sorare and will help it achieve new ways of connecting fans with clubs and players. In addition, they will work together to create immersive content and experiences for fans. As part of the signed agreement, Messi has acquired an equity stake in the company, but percentages and amounts respectively are unknown.

To celebrate this new addition, the Sorare platform will give away six limited edition NFTs of the renowned Argentinean star. In order to participate in the raffle of these NFTs, among the requirements is to follow Sorare’s official Twitter account and retweet the respective message of the raffle. The sweepstakes ends on November 14, and the list of winners will be published the following day. Three of the NFT will be drawn among the participants of the Twitter network, and the other three will be among participants of Instagram.

Nicolas Julia, CEO and co-founder of Sorare, said that Messi’s association with the company has marked a before and after for the platform.

Sorare gives users the ability to trade digital player cards and manage soccer teams in online tournaments. The cards are collectible NFTs, which have their ownership record hosted on the blockchain.

On the other hand, Lionel Messi expressed that fans have always looked for ways to express their passion and get closer to the players and teams they are fans of, and with this partnership with Sorare for a fantasy game with collectible cards, it will offer fans new ways to get closer to them, anywhere in the world.

Prior to the Argentine star, other sports figures have been linked to the Sorare platform, such as Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann, Gerard Piqué, or Serena Williams. On the other hand, Sorare has recently expanded to other sports, such as basketball and baseball, after formalizing alliances with the American leagues MLB and NBA.

This is not the first time Lionel Messi dabbles in the crypto and NFT world. When signing a contract with the PSG soccer club, the star agreed that a part of his salary will be in $PSG, the Paris team’s fan token. This token has been provided thanks to the Socios.com platform, where Lionel is also an ambassador.

Sorare has been growing steadily, with more than 2 million users on its platform, and has formalized more than 300 partnerships with various sports clubs and leagues.

In the last month, Sorare has positioned itself as the third largest collection of non-fungible tokens in trading volume.
