MasterCard, the multinational financial services company, announced that it will use the Polygon blockchain to create an incubator and help Web3 artists. The name of the project will be “Mastercard Artist Accelerator”.
MasterCard Artist Accelerator will be a unique development program that will utilize and leverage the most efficient features of Web3 and blockchain technology to prepare, in principle, five emerging artists with tools, skills and the access to make their own way in the new digital economy.
This one-of-a-kind plan aims to teach both artists and fans how to build or own their brand. It will teach actions from minting an NFT on the blockchain to representing themselves in the various virtual worlds known as metaverses.
Consequently, by taking advantage of all the platforms and benefits they are offering as Web3 services, the program can create a new community among these first five edges.
With the help of MasterCard Artist Acceleratorfive emerging artists, including musicians, DJs and producers, will receive the resources, access and tools needed to develop and create successful careers in the digital music industry. The artists will have privileged access to events, new music releases and more.
Artist participation will begin in the spring of 2023 and individuals who want to stay current can sign up on the official MasterCard accelerator launch page.
According to the press release from MasterCardthe accelerator will come with a limited edition NFT called “The MasterCard Music Pass,” which, according to the company, will grant owners access to special resources, IRL (physical) experiences and digital benefits, as well as exclusive music instruction materials.
Raja Rajamannardirector of marketing and communications at MasterCard, spoke about the MasterCard Artist Accelerator and said that music is a universal passion, without borders, that inspires, moves and unites, but that lately many artists are unable to make this dream possible. He also added that with the accelerator, the goal is to broaden the access of emerging artists to the music industry, boosting even more the connections that Web3 technology allows.
Finally, he ended his remarks by saying that MasterCard’s vision is to unite passion and at the same time, highlight incredible emerging artists by creating an interactive community that allows participants to learn, experience and grow in this field.
MasterCard announced the MasterCard Artist Accelerator program from the stage of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. In addition, the official announcement was made together with Polygon Studios. Also, the multinational financial institution is the sponsor of the GRAMMY Awards, Latin GRAMMY Awards and BRIT Awards. As a result, it is creating these exclusive, inclusive and scalable experiences for fans and artists with the goal of driving the music industry worldwide.
On the other hand, MasterCard chose Polygon’s blockchain, building on its success during 2022. Without going any further, last month, NFTpaythe Miami-based Web3 platform, enabled NFT providers to accept credit card payments for projects on the Polygon blockchain.
Also, in December 2022, Hitogether with Polygon, introduced the new platform that will allow its users to generate an NFT using their favorite image and use it to customize the face of a Web3 debit MasterCard.
Last but not least, the Windows media player Winamp added NFT music tools to its platform in its most recent re-release. Users will be able to enjoy listening to audio files that have been encoded as non-fungible tokens.
