The e-commerce giant has posted several job searches related to Web3 and NFT professionals for its NFT marketplace called KnownOrigin.
As we have been reporting from NFTexpresswe are experiencing an upward trend in the Web3 and NFT field, which has been prolonged over the last few months, especially considering the intention of celebrities, companies, governmental entities, among others, to enter this field with great potential.
Two years ago, eBay CEO Jamie Iannone Jamie Iannoneexpressed the company’s intentions to analyze the field of cryptocurrencies as a new means of payment for its e-commerce, and on the other hand, the possibility of incorporating NFTs to its store.
Although cryptocurrencies are not yet accepted as a means of payment on the platform directly (but by third parties), NFTs have achieved a good acceptance by users, with the launch of its first NFT collection in May 2022 in collaboration with Sports Illustrated.
The following month, the company decided to go a step further and took the initiative to acquire an NFT marketplace called KnownOrigin; which happens to be the main player in the company’s current expansion motive.
On this occasion, e-commerce giant eBay is looking for Web3 and NFT ecosystem professionals to expand its horizons, with the aim of developing its digital collectibles business.
The event that marked the intentions of the e-commerce giant has been a search published through the Linkedin platform, where they make a detail of the professionals they are looking to hire.
First we can find the position of Crypto Counselwhose role will serve directly for the marketplace KnownOrigin and its main tasks would be to advise the company’s plan as it continues to advance NFTs and Blockchain.
To fill this position, the applicant is required to have a law degree, knowledge and experience in the field of cryptocurrencies, NFTs, Blockchain and Web3, to work closely with tax, intellectual property and security professionals and provide regulatory guidance on these issues.
Within the descriptions of the job searches, the company states that KnownOrigin is one of the pioneers of Web3; it is an NFT marketplace that gives digital artists the opportunity to express themselves, connect with their audience and share their passion.
The other two job proposals are directed to the search of Community Managerand a Marketing Campaign Executive. This will not only strengthen the company’s acquisition of the NFT marketplace, but is also related to eBay’s trademark registration applications for metaverse services and NFTs.
The first two searches are based on a hybrid mode of working, with part remote and part face-to-face at their offices in Manchester. The Marketing Campaign Executive search is 100% remote, but this application intake is no longer available.
On the other hand, we can find Amazon, eBay’s direct competitor, who is also looking for a marketplace specialist, who will be responsible for various Web3 and cloud-oriented workloads. For this position, experience in blockchain architectures and knowledge of development in layers 1 and 2 is required.
