BBC Studios has confirmed its partnership with Reality+, a specialist company in Web3 services. Both companies are working together to create a new experience in The Sandbox metaverse.

The goal is to develop immersive experiences where users and fans can interact with content from their favorite series, such as ‘Top Gear‘ and ‘Doctor Who’, among others, to enjoy an exclusive space for BBC events.

This news marks the first foray of BBC Studios and Reality+ into the metaverse. They have chosen The Sandbox because it offers various opportunities such as virtual real estate and fully embraces the concept of the metaverse as a continuous shared digital space, where players and brands can build, own, and monetize their experiences through blockchain technology.

It is worth noting that The Sandbox has already worked with over 400 entertainment brands, providing revolutionary and innovative services for users and fans of companies like Warner Music Group, Gucci Vault, The Walking Dead, Ubisoft, Adidas, and many more.

Nucki Sheard, President of Brands and Licensing at BBC Studios, commented on this new partnership and stated that the company is delighted to have formed this strategic alliance with Reality+ and subsequently with The Sandbox.

Furthermore, he added that while the metaverse is still in its early stages, it may take shape in the future and become an essential service where users can consume, experience, and interact with the BBC’s most well-known brands.

He also mentioned that this project is part of the ambitious plans the company has to grow the brand in new categories, with cutting-edge and highly innovative technologies and platforms.

Another key figure in this partnership is Tony Pearce, Co-founder of Reality+, who also spoke about this news and expressed their excitement about expanding the partnership with BBC Studios. This collaboration will not only push the boundaries of what is possible in the metaverse but also provide new and exciting experiences for fans of the brand’s most well-known and globally renowned programs.

Reality+ has already worked with other major brands such as FIFA, MasterCard, Road Code, among others. As Tony confirmed, they have previously collaborated with BBC to launch a collectible card game in NFT format exclusively for ‘Doctor Who: Worlds Apart’. With the partnership alongside The Sandbox, there are sure to be more experiences to come.
