Amazon Digital Marketplace: Amazon’s NFT platform to launch in April 2023

After several attempts in recent months to enter the web3 field, the e-commerce giant will launch its own NFT marketplace in April.

This is not the first time that Amazon carries out activities aimed at launching products or services related to the web3 field, as we have announced on previous occasions from NFTexpress.

One of its first links (although not directly) was at the end of December 2022 with the launch of the documentary film NFTme about NFTs, through the Amazon Prime platform. The aim of the documentary is to explain how this new technology has positively changed the work of artists, as well as the way collectors store their collectibles.

Subsequently, at the end of January 2023, we disclosed through another article in another article Amazon’s intentions to develop a digital asset service or NFT initiative. At the time there was no confirmation of this, nor was there any further information regarding the product.

Finally, a few hours ago, information came out about one of the services Amazon was working on: the launch of its NFT marketplace, which would be linked to real objects, which will be integrated into its original platform.

Among some of the services that would be available is the ability for customers to be able to purchase NFTs using debit or credit cards through their account, and there might even be a possibility to link a crypto wallet to their accounts as well.

They also claim that this NFT marketplace could have a focus on the gaming field, as we could see in the article article in January, where the company formalized a partnership with Ava Labs and Ava Labsa project that works on the Avalanche blockchain in the tokenization of real-world assets, and the development of web games3, where players can use and obtain rewards through NFTs.

This section would be called“Amazon Digital Marketplace“, which will initially be available only for the United States, but there are plans to expand to other countries in the future, especially Europe.

More precisely, such NFT proposal will be available to users who are customers of its Amazon Prime service. They will be notified when the service is available on the site.

On the other hand, this service to buy, sell, exchange NFTs, among other possibilities, would be available as of April 24, 2023.

Another of the functionalities offered by the company is the possibility of acquiring an NFT linked to physical objects, such as sports apparel like sneakers, T-shirts, among others.

This initiative by a company of the magnitude of Amazon, may be the boost that the web3 field and non-fungible tokens need to achieve a massive adoption worldwide, so that people who have not had contact with these technologies, can have it through this initiative.
