Adidas Introduces Worldwide NFT Artist Residency Program

Adidas, the behemoth in sportswear and lifestyle, is collaborating with artists for NFT launches and other products, kicking off during Korea Blockchain Week.

Adidas /// Studio, also known as Three Stripes Studio, has unveiled its new global digital artist residency program, named “Residency by Adidas.” This initiative, set to launch in September during Korea Blockchain Week in Seoul, aims to spotlight artists from around the globe.

The inaugural digital art series will feature works from Tokyo-based MonkeeMoto and Adra Kandil, also known as Dear Nostalgia. Both artists will offer both limited and open editions of their NFT art on the Ethereum blockchain. MonkeeMoto specializes in game development and conceptual design, while Kandil, a Lebanese artist, blends photography, collage, typography, and digital montages. Kandil has previously collaborated with high-profile brands like Gucci, Chanel, Cartier, and Roberto Cavalli.

According to Stacey King, Global Head of Communications and Activations at Adidas /// Studio, this project marks another significant stride in their engagement with the Web3 community. The studio had already dabbled in the NFT world with connected apparel and had showcased NFT art at events in Berlin and New York. “We felt it was the right time to go ‘all in’ and establish a more robust platform for some of the most innovative and captivating artists in our community,” King said.

The limited editions of NFTs will be available only to attendees of the Seoul event and will be priced at 0.15 ETH (approximately $250) each. Additionally, they will come with an exclusive physical hoodie. The open editions will be priced at 0.03 ETH (around $50) and will be available to the general public during the purchase period. Both editions will be available from September 6 to September 11.

King also noted that future releases of the project, both digital and physical, will be carried out in parallel with Adidas’s Ethereum NFT initiative, known as ALTS. Recently, Adidas teamed up with BAPE to launch a limited edition of sneakers accompanied by digital twins.
