The MapleStory franchise will take its first steps on Web3, thanks to a partnership between Nexon and Polygon for its NFT version.

In this case, Korea’s largest game developer and publisher has made a decision to formalize a contract with Polygon to bring its gaming ecosystem to interaction with non-fungible tokens.
Nexon is one of Korea’s largest game development companies. Founded in 1994, it has managed to introduce several innovations in the industry, such as the first massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), as well as being the first free-to-play game.
Since its inception, Nexon has developed more than 80 online games that are functional in more than 190 countries. Also, the company has been listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange since 2017.

And the news of the link with Polygon has been officially announced from the official official Polygon Labs of Polygon Labs on March 22, by which Nexon intends to build an application-focused Polygon Supernet.
Such a strategy in addition to serving as a boost to the blockchain ecosystem, on the other hand triggers great scalability in terms of the game economy MapleStoryby introducing NFTs as a utility.
On the other hand, they also announced Nexon’s news during the Game Developers Conference. There, the company stated that NFTs will have tangible and intangible values. In this sense, the ownership of the assets and their resale by the players is reinforced.
In this sense, within the plans of the partnership is to develop new content and characters based on MapleStory IP, which can be tracked through decentralized applications (dApps), and can be used in MapleStory Universe.
Regarding the Polygon SupernetPolygon Supernet is a feature offered by Polygon to customize a blockchain to meet the requirements of the online gaming industry.
Urvit Goel, vice president of Polygon Labs, said that both Nexon and the Supernet have the ability to achieve scalability at levels that cannot be achieved on other shared blockchains.
For its part, the MapleStory franchise has more than 180 million registered users, making it one of the most successful games of the developer Nexon.
