National Geographic to launch its NFTs with Snowcrash alliance

National Geographic officially announced the launch of its “Genesis NFT” collection in partnership with Snowcrash. It will be released in January 2023 and will feature at least 15 National Geographic photographers and digital artists from around the world.

National Geographic made official its new foray into the Web3 world through a partnership with Snowcrasha premier NFT commerce platform that combines technology, creative art and digital innovation.

Both companies will launch a collection called “Genesis NFT“, a project that will feature the work of at least 15 official National Geographic photographers and digital artists. The list includes well-known individuals such as Justin Aversano, Jimmy Chin, Delphine Diallo, Mia Forrest, Kris Graves and Yagazie Emezi, among others.

¿What is the National Geographic NFT collection about??

The collection of non-fungible tokens from National Geographic tokens will be officially launched on January 17, 2023 and will bring together 16 photographers and digital artists who captured different sunrises around the world.

The project was created to celebrate National Geographic’s 135th anniversary and 1888 NFTs will be minted, in reference to the year of its founding.

On the other hand, the collection will feature stunning photographs as we are accustomed to from this non-profit organization. The images will range from the shores of Byron Bay, Australia and the Oregon coast, to the highest peaks of Mount Everest.

Another new feature of this project is that there will even be a sunrise in the metaverse, taken by Aaron HueyAaron Huey, an American photographer, activist and storyteller, one of the most recognized in his work with National Geographic.

The idea of this collection is that each artist tells a unique story through his or her photographs, as some followed the traditional path of the documentary image, while others explored the narrative opportunities presented by the subject matter.

¿Who are the artists participating in the collection?

The photographers and artists participating in this new National Geographic collection are a total of 16 professionals. While some are new to the Web3 space, others have already worked in the NFT ecosystem.

The creators mentioned above, such as Justin Aversano, Jimmy Chin, Delphine Diallo, Mia Forrest, Kris Graves, Yagazie Emezi, , and Aaron Huey we can add them to Ioulex, John Knopf, Cristina Mittermeier, Renan Ozturk, Cath Simard, Reuben Wu, Michael Yamashita, Ben Strauss y Tara Workman.

As I mentioned earlier, this is the first official collection to be released by Nat Geo, and it was christened “Genesis NFT. Nat Geo and it was baptized as “Genesis NFT”. Bringing all the experience in art and images that has been working for more than a century to the Web3, is undoubtedly one of the most creative strategies to continue telling the stories and encourage its community of new generations that every day are more informed of all the new technologies that are being developed.

On the other hand, the NFT collection will be presented by the 16 artists already named and each will release 118 editions of their photographs. The blockchain that has been chosen for this first project is Polygon in a blind drop.

Also, the launch date will be January 17, 2023 and the NFTs will be available from Snowcrasha platform that creates Web3 software and services.

Those interested in acquiring an NFT from this collection will be able to do so with a debit and/or credit card, but a cryptographic wallet is not required. Finally, both companies will be providing more information on how to obtain these NFTs throughout the remaining days to the launch.
